My name is Erin and I am the Licensed Esthetician, Virtual Skin Coach and Skincare Content Creator behind The Melanin Method. In 2020, I attended the Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute in Dallas, Texas and obtained my Esthetics License. 

I haven't always been passionate about skincare. Growing up, I had relatively clear and healthy skin. After I graduated from highschool, all of that changed. I started experiencing breakouts and dark spots from those breakouts. Through this experience, I was forced to learn how to take care of my skin. 

During my journey, I noticed how difficult it was at the time to find credible information on how to treat specific skin concerns on darker skin tones. I also had a hard time educating myself about skin care because most online resources consisted of a lot of medical terms and technical verbiage that was hard for me, the average consumer, to understand. 

This journey drove me to become an Esthetician so I could obtain a proper education in skincare and use my knowledge to help people, especially people of color, understand the basics of skincare without making it complicated or overwhelming with too much technical jargon.

Who i am

Over the years I has evolved my brand to be more hands on, by creating a Virtual Skin Coaching Program that provides people with personalized advice from not just an Esthetician, but from someone who understands what they're going through and can help them make the best choices for their skin based on their individualized needs. 

I created The Melanin Method as a response to the lack of credible, accessible and easy to understand education about skincare, especially when treating the skin concerns of skin of color. The Melanin Method has a goal to educate people about skincare, and make learning about skincare or starting your skincare journey simple and approachable.

It’s your time to shine!
The first step in your journey with me, is to get a consultation. This is where I get to learn all about you, your skincare goals, your skincare concerns and your skincare journey.

This is where the magic happens!
I will assess your current skincare routine to see if it's in need of some TLC. I will provide some much-appreciated feedback on your current products, letting you know if and how they need to be adjusted for you to start reaching your skincare goals.

03.

The fun part!
I will recommend products I believe will help you achieve your skincare goals. These products are personally catered to you based on your skin type, skin concerns and budget. I specialize in recommending over-the-counter products because I believe you don’t have to spend a fortune to achieve your skincare goals. I will recommend professional-grade skincare products when necessary.

04.

Just checking in!
This step is to check in and see how your new routine is working for you and also answer questions and make changes to your routine when necessary to manage and improve your results.

05.

We did it!
I don't want you to be stuck with me forever. Once you start reaching your skincare goals, you’re set! My goal is to give you the tools and knowledge you need to evolve your routine as your skin changes. I want you to be the expert of your skin.

My favorite tv show to watch when I was a teen, was Pretty Little Liars.

If I wasn’t The Melanin Method, I would probably be an elementary school teacher.

My favorite way to spend my day off is to binge watch movies or tv shows on Netflix with my girlfriend and her dogs.

 If you hugged me, I’d smell like Giorgio Armani My Way fragrance.

My favorite skincare product I can’t live without is Retinol Remix from INNBEAUTY PROJECT!

My favorite dessert is nothing!- I was not born with a sweet tooth!
